Photo Gallery: Annual Will’s Fight Day Held at Frankfort-Schuyler to Honor Senior Willy Linscott
Frankfort-Schuyler CSD held "Will's Fight Day" for Willy Linscott on Sept. 27. Willy is a senior at Frankfort-Schuyler. He was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia at 13 years old. After radiation and chemo, he received a bone marrow transplant from his sister. From this transplant, he developed Graft-versus-host disease (GVHD), which attacked his lungs and led to his first lung transplant. Willy was doing quite well after the transplant, but this past summer he developed pneumonia which created the need for yet another lung transplant.
During “Will’s Fight Day,” students came together wearing red and black to represent Willy. They walked laps around the track in his honor, raised money to assist Willy and his family, wrote him well wishes and released balloons to bring awareness to Will’s fight.
On the day of "Will's Fight Day" at Frankfort-Schuyler, and after 95 days of waiting, Willy’s family received the news that a donor had been found for him. On Sept. 28, Will had his second lung transplant and has since been doing well. His family is hoping that he will be discharged soon.
We wish Willy continued health and a speedy and successful recovery!
