John Banas Receives National Football Foundation Scholarship
Frankfort-Schuyler senior John Banas has been named as the District’s 2019 recipient of the Central New York Chapter of the National Football Foundation (NFF) and College Hall of Fame, Inc. High School Scholar-Athlete Award.
Each Section 3 football program is given the opportunity to nominate one senior football player from their school to be considered for the award. Each nominee receives a $500 scholarship and a name plate to add to their school’s NFF High School Scholar-Athlete Award plaque.
Criteria for the award include, but are not limited to, academic achievement, athletic accomplishments and community leadership.
Local nominees were recognized during the National Football Foundation Awards Dinner at the Turning Stone Resort and Casino on January 27.
John joins many previous Frankfort-Schuyler recipients of the NFF High School Scholar-Athlete Award including Joseph DeSarro, Nicholas Spina, Vincent Suda, III, Ethan Irons and Joseph Streeter.
