Football Team Triumphs in 1st Game on Turf Field

On Sept. 14, the Frankfort-Schuyler Central School District held a grand opening for the new artificial turf field at Lt. Ferraro Memorial Field – which serves as home of the Maroon Knights football and soccer teams.

The festivities included food, games and fun on the high school tennis courts, followed by a ribbon cutting and rematch of last year's Section III 8-Man Football Championship game vs. West Canada Valley. Pop Warner youth players and Frankfort-Schuyler alums donned the maroon and white to join the varsity football team as they took to the field for the first game on the new turf. The Maroon Knights built a 46-0 lead by halftime and came away with a fitting 58-12 victory for the inaugural game on the turf.

"This is a great day – it’s fantastic!” said Superintendent Palmer.  “It was a long journey. This is something the community has supported and the Board of Education made sure it was a priority to be able to play on it. A lot of people worked together, there was a lot of patience from the community and we appreciate it."

The District will also celebrate the first soccer games on the new turf field during the boys varsity soccer game on Sept. 17 and the girls varsity soccer game on Sept. 21. All AYSO soccer players are invited to join the teams as they enter the field.

Along with the turf field, the District looks forward to a new baseball field, softball field and gymnasium!
