Frankfort-Schuyler middle school student musicians showcased their hard work and talent during the Choral and Instrumental Winter Concert on Dec. 18.

The concert featured performances by sixth, seventh and eighth grade chorus and band students under the direction of Kaitlin Bunger, Heather Tinker and Kathy Donaleski. Accompaniment was provided by Emily Razonkíewíecz.

The sixth grade chorus opened the evening with performances of “Gonna Rise Up Singin,” “DJ Play A Christmas Song,” “Jolly Jazzy Saint Nicholas” and “Like It’s Christmas.” The sixth grade band followed with “Starsplitter Fanfare,” “Winter Winds” and “Fum, Fum, Fum.”

The seventh and eighth grade chorus performed “We Are the Lights,” “The Christmas,” “God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen” and “All I Want for Christmas Is You.” The concert concluded with the seventh and eighth grade band performing “March of the Sad Santas,” “Ice Dancers” and “Sleigh Ride.”

Students spent weeks preparing for the concert, rehearsing regularly while learning new musical techniques and styles. Their dedication and growth were evident throughout the festive evening.

Support from the Frankfort-Schuyler Board of Education, administration team, maintenance department, Music Boosters, faculty, staff, students and families helped make the evening a success and continues to strengthen the school’s music program.
