Mrs. Jeana Penree, LCSW-R
Hello! I am Mrs. Penree and I am the K-12 School Social Worker. This is my 3rd school year at Frankfort-Schuyler Central School District. Prior to entering this role at FS, I worked for four school years as a middle school social worker in another local district. Before my career in education took place, I was gainfully employed at MVHS completing emergency room and crisis mental health services. I have also worked as the inpatient clinician on an adult psychiatric unit and in homes with at risk youth and families, facilitating individual and family therapy sessions.
I Look Forward to Meeting Our New Students and Continuing to Work with Previous Students! I Will Work with Our Students to Tackle Any Obstacle or Barrier That Could Potentially Be Standing in the Way of Their Academic Success.
I Am Available During the School Day and Am Located in the Ms/Hs Building and Can Be Reached at 315-895-7461.
School Social Workers bring a unique skill set to the educational system and the school support team. We work in collaboration with our school counselors, administration, CSE team, teachers, and students. The goal of the school social worker is to effectively assist students in breaking down barriers that may affect their academic success. We work to problem solve issues and concerns that may hinder their overall school performance. Often, sometimes these barriers are non-academic in nature but can be worked through on a short-term basis. Other times, I can act as a liaison with parents, families, caregivers, and outside service providers to coordinate what will work best for our students' overall success over a more extended period of time.
School Social Workers Can Be Available for Students to Work on an Abundant Number of Issues and Can Help with:
-Individual and Group Counseling
-Conflict Resolution and Anger Management
-School Avoidance Behaviors
- Crisis Intervention & Suicidal Ideation/Intent
- Coping Skills/Strategies
- Anxiety Reduction
- Social Skills/ Peer Interactions and Interpersonal Skill Development
- Building Empathy
-Work with the Committee on Special Education and provide individual counseling services for students requiring that service
- Referrals and Community Linkages
- Liaison Between Community Resources, School, and Families
-Protect the Confidentiality of students who utilize Social Work Services
Have a great school year!
