    MATERIALS NEEDED:

    • 3-ring binder OR pocket folder with looseleaf paper 

    • pencils!!!

    • Pencil Pouch for binder with erasers, pencil-sharpener, ruler, protractor

    • Recommended: Scientific Calculator - TI 34 Multiview or equivalent (7th & 8th grade only)

                           for Accel Math: optional:  Graphing Calculator - TI Nspire

                                                                     (not allowed on 7th and 8th grade state exams but

                                                                      will be used in 8th grade for Algebra Regents prep)

    GRADING:

     

    • TESTS or GRADED ASSIGNMENTS may be given in the middle and/or end of each unit. They will be worth 50-100 points each. You MUST use PENCIL! *Sometimes take-homes or projects may count as a test grade.

     

    • QUIZZES or WEEKLY CHECKS may be given on Fridays and throughout the school year, some announced and some unannounced. They will be worth 10 to 50 points each. You MUST use PENCIL!

    ***You may be allowed to retake any IN-SCHOOL quiz ONCE if you are unhappy with the grade.  This must be done within 2 weeks after the quiz is returned.

     

    • HOMEWORK/DAILY PRACTICE will be assigned and checked daily. Each week you will receive a homework grade which worth 10 points. Points are deducted for missing or incomplete problems.                                         You MUST use PENCILNo late homework will be accepted! (Exceptions for excused absences.)

         ***ALL WORK MUST BE SHOWN AND EVERY PROBLEM MUST BE ATTEMPTED FOR CREDIT!!! 

    ~Homework grades will be updated on Parent Portal at the end of each 5- and 10-week marking period.

     

    • REVIEW or SUMMARIZING TASKS may also be assigned at the beginning or end of each class and worth up to 10 points each.

     

    • A quarterly PARTICIPATION grade will be based on a weekly (2-point) check for classroom performance - copying notes & examples, attending and participating in online sessions when applicable, classwork effort, paying attention, appropriate behavior, etc. This grade will add up to a possible 20 points each quarter.

     

    • Your marking period grade will be the average of all of the above grades.

    There may be a MIDTERM EXAM/PROJECT and a FINAL EXAM/PROJECT, which together will count as

    20% of your final grade. Your final grade will be the average of all 4 quarter grades and the exam grade.

     

    NYS EXAMS:

    • New York State 7th Grade Math Test        May 2022

    • ACCELERATED MATH 7 ONLY:

    • New York State 8th Grade Math Test** May 2023  ** ACCEL may be exempted

    • Algebra Regents Exam                             June 2023

     

    • These Exams will cover topics from the NYS MATH Curriculum. The purpose of the state tests is to discover what you have learned, compared to other students statewide, and to help determine if an adjustment in placement is needed.

     

    EXPECTATIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Be on time; Be prepared;  Be courteous.  Have everything with you every day, unless told otherwise.  PENCILS must be used on all tests and quizzes!

     

    • “Learn and Let Learn”. Be courteous to others.  Do not cause disruptions or distractions.  If you are having trouble understanding something, let me know immediately!

     

    • HELP EACH OTHER !!! But of course, know the difference between helping and cheating.

     

    • Help to keep our classroom neat and organized. Please make sure that any materials you use are put away neatly and push your chairs in before you leave.

    • ACCEL: Monitoring… Your progress will be monitored continuously and you will be up for review at the end of every 5-week period to determine if an adjustment in placement is needed.

     

    MAKEUPS:

     

    • TIME DOES NOT STAND STILL WHEN YOU ARE NOT HERE! We will miss you, but we must go on with our lives… If you are absent, you must see me immediately when you return to school (or during online office hours) to hand in homework due and schedule makeups during studyhall or after school. Makeups owed on tests and quizzes will be posted in the classroom and/or online.

     

    • If you are here the day of a test or quiz you will be required to take it that day unless you were legally absent 2 entire days prior to the test or quiz.

     

    • Time allowed for makeups will vary depending on the assignment and length of absence.

     

    BATHROOM/DRINK/NURSE:

     

    • Go to the bathroom before you leave home! If it is an emergency-GO! Come back to explain later.  If we are learning online, go when you need to.

     

    • Do not raise your hand and ask to go. Wait for an appropriate time, then quietly come up and ask.  You must sign out on the sign out sheet near the door when leaving the room for any reason!  Please, do not interrupt and only go if you really can’t wait.

     

    • At school, YOU MUST SIGN OUT AND IN ON THE CHROMEBOOK BY THE DOOR IF YOU LEAVE THE ROOM FOR ANY REASON!

     

    ONLINE LEARNING:

     

    You will all be invited (and required) to join our Math 7 GOOGLE CLASSROOM for your scheduled Math period.

     

    • Google Classroom may be used for various assignments and activities throughout the school year, as well as posting make-up work for absences, etc.

     

    In the event that we are unable to be in the classroom all together:

    • Live classes will be offered through ZOOM, attendance will be required. You will be expected to attend classes online when you are home, following the schedule assigned to you for our 9-period day.   

     

    • Assignments and other information will be posted on Google Classroom, and should be turned in on Google Classroom on or before the due date/time.

     

    • Mrs. Reid will be available for help, questions, etc. through email and/or Google messaging.
