• On May 18, the Friday before the Frankfort-Schuyler prom, a group of students organized a mock motor vehicle accident (MVA) at the school to help show their classmates the dangers and consequences of driving while drunk, distracted or impaired.

     

    Town of Frankfort Police, Village of Frankfort Police, Village of Ilion Police Frankfort Fire Department, Schuyler Volunteer Fire Company, Mohawk Valley Ambulance Corps (MOVAC), Mercy Flight Central, Herkimer County Probation Office and Iocovozzi Funeral Homes participated in the mock accident for 9-12 graders at Frankfort-Schuyler High School.

     

    Frankfort-Schuyler students portrayed victims of the accident and narrated the scene. One student was transported from the scene in a medical helicopter, others were taken away in an ambulance and two were even was put in a hearse to show he had been killed in the crash.

     

    The mock MVA also served as a practice exercise in coordinating emergency responses and services between the many agencies involved.
