Cold Weather Precautions:
We encourage parents to make sure that their children take the necessary precautions when severe cold weather comes to our area.
Students should dress for the winter, with long pants, winter coats, scarves, mittens, boots, etc. Please limit student time outdoors waiting at the bus stop or walk to school.
There is no State Education Department regulations regarding the possible closure/delay of a school due to cold temperatures. The State Educations department has however, indicated that frostbite may occur on exposed skin in as little as 10-30 minutes, at a temperatire of -25 degrees. It is our position, therefore, that school will be closed or delayed if the temperature is -20 to -25 degrees.
