The Physical Science 8 quarterly average is a weighted average that follows this format:
Tests: 45%
Quizzes/Labs: 30%
Homework/Class Participation: 25%

All 8th graders are required to take the Intermediate Level Science Assessment, an exam administered by the State Education Department. The science assessment is given in two parts, both in May:
Lab Perfromance Test: This is a hands-on lab exam that tests microscope and measurement skills.
Written Test: This is a two hour exam that includes multiple choice and short-answer questions that are based on the Earth, life, and physical sciences.
