Welcome to Frankfort-SchuylerHigh School web page!

We continue to encourage your involvement, your support and your guidance in your child’s educational progress.  To be successful in meeting the higher expectations set by the State Education Department and our local school district for graduation; it is important that students come to school on a regular basis and maximize their time in school for learning.  There is a positive correlation between regular attendance at school and academic success.  In the business world excessive absenteeism and/or tardiness to work often results in the loss of jobs.  Frankfort-Schuyler has an obligation to expect regular attendance and punctuality to school and class.

Students have a responsibility to come to school on a daily basis and to be on time to school and to all of their classes.  Parents have a responsibility to see that their child/children meet these obligations.

Excuses ~ When a student has been absent/tardy to school, the parent/guardian must provide the school with a note explaining the reason.  Students should present this note to the High School Office the day they return from their absence.  Written excuses should indicate the date, the reason for the absence/tardiness, and be signed by the parent/guardian.  In cases of repeated or long-term absence, a note from a medial doctor may be required.

Early Release from School ~ To be released from school for any reason, a student must bring a parent’s/guardian’s note on the day he/she needs to be excused.  This excuse should be given to the High School Office.  Students will only be released to their parent/guardian or some other adult designated by the parent/guardian.  If students drive, they will be released only with the parent’s/guardian’s permission. In order to be released due to sickness during the school day, students must report to the school nurse to be evaluated.  If, in the nurse’s judgment, the student needs to be sent home, the parent will be contacted for permission prior to allow to allowing the student to leave.  The student still must sign out from the High School Office.

Thank you again for your continuing interest, support, and cooperation.  We can and will continue to respond proactively to provide Frankfort-Schuyler students with the skill and knowledge base that our increasingly complex society demands.  Success depends on the commitment to prepare for success daily.  Our teachers are committed to providing high quality opportunities for our students.  With your continued support, our students will choose daily to take full advantage of those opportunities.

October 22, 2012

The New York State Department of Education has mandated that all schools assess students for growth in each content area.  In following that mandate, the Frankfort Schuyler High School will be administering the Terra Nova Pre-Test to all 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th grade students next week.  All High School grades will take the test on Wednesday October 24th starting at 8am.  The tests will take place the first half of the day.  This test covers ELA, Math, Social Studies, and Science.  Tests for special area classes will be given on Wednesday.  Senior BOCES students will be staying at the High School to complete this test.  Junior BOCES students will go to BOCES once the test is complete and they have their lunch.  For the 2012-2013 school year, students must be pre and post tested.  For the following year, they will only be tested at the end of the school year.  Students who are absent will have to make up the test.  If you have any questions, please call the main office at 895-7461.

Thank you,
