Dear High School Parents and Students:
This year you will begin to see the results of the past several years of planning reflected in the high school's programs and procedures.
Thanks to your continuing interest and support, we can, and will, continue to respond proactively to provide Frankfort-Schuyler students with the skill and knowledge base that our increasingly complex society demands for "Student Success Today and Tomorrow."
PROGRAMS:
Many important state mandated and locally designed changes to the academic programs in the high school, developed over the past several years, are well underway:
-
Qualified high school students beginning in their freshman year may now take a complete sequence of five "Project Lead the Way" Pre-Engineering courses.
-
The state education department has mandated the introduction, beginning with the freshman class last year, of the new three year sequence of courses and Regents Examinations in high school mathematics beginning with Integrated Algebra. The other components are Geometry and Intermediate Algebra and Trigonometry.
-
Additionally, enrollment in our music, art and foreign language programs are the highest they have been in the past five years reflecting the high school's commitment to excellence across the curriculum.
PROCEDURES:
Outstanding educational success is the product of exceptional parent and student commitment. Every successful student builds his or her achievement one day at a time by being on time, prepared, and focused on their daily work assignments.
-
The personal habits of success are developed through daily attendance and a commitment to using time on the job to its fullest positive advantage.
-
High school students are expected to be at school and ready for work from 8:00 am to 2:44 pm on every scheduled instructional day.
-
Students who leave school due to illness must be evaluated by the school nurse, the licensed medical professional on staff.
-
For the safety of the student and to meet the school's legal obligations, when the professional determination is made to release a student from school due to illness, the nurse will call the parent or other emergency contact so designated to come to school to take custody of the child.
Thank you again for your past support and cooperation. Success depends on the commitment to prepare for success daily. Our teachers are committed to providing high quality opportunities for our students. With your continued support, our students will choose daily to take full advantage of those opportunities.
