![]() Earth Science Grading Policy Grades will be determined on a Point System.
Chapter tests will be given at the end of each topic. If the chapter test is 50 questions, it will be worth 50pts. Multiple-choice questions will be worth 1 pt and short answer questions will be worth more depending on the content of the question. If a student receives a 45/50, their grade calculates to a 90. Quizzes Quizzes will be given throughout the year both announced and unannounced. The point breakdown and method of calculation for chapter tests will also apply to quizzes. Homework Homework will be given daily! Depending on the assignment, I will either check to make sure each student has it completed or collect the papers and grade the homework. If I check for completion, each student who did the homework will get the total amount of points (10-question homework, ten points). If I collect and grade the homework, their points will be based on how many questions out of the total they get correct. Students will not be made aware of my intentions with homework so they should do it to the best of their ability and always be prepared for me to collect and grade the assignment. If the questions are out of the book, they should always be done both in the book and on a loose-leaf sheet of paper. Laboratory Labs are done during laboratory block and the grade is averaged into the course grade. Similar to chapter tests response questions at the end of the lab will be worth more points than calculations. Each lab will be worth a different amount of points depending on the length and content of the lab. |
